Tomorrow's Saint Patrick's Day and I thought I'd bake a big hunk of Irish Soda Bread in the Dutch oven. It'll be the first outdoor bake of the year with decent temperatures......WINDY, but around 60 degrees.

Before I go to allrecipes.com or one of the other online cookbooks, I thought I'd ask you guys if you've got a favorite recipe that you use.

C'mon somebody help me out here! Worship

Hi Wolfy - here is my sister-in-law's recipe. She swears by it. I have never made it myself.

PS: Ignore the last line (glass comment) she bakes it in the house oven.

Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients:
4 c flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c sugar
2 tbsp. caraway seeds
1 c raisins
1 1/2 c Buttermilk
2 tbsp. melted butter
2 eggs - slightly beaten

Grease bowl and preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, caraway seeds & raisins)
Add wet ingredients (buttermilk, melted butter & eggs) and mix until dough forms ball. (hurts your hands!)
2 loaves - 45 to 50 minutes
1 loaf (2 qt. bowl) - 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Bake in glass bowl is best!

Let me know how it turns out
