As a Seabee, I learned to make "cowboy" coffee from a Marine gunny sergeant at the 29 Palms Marine base. Just sayin'!

It wasn't cowboy coffee, but I learned the big pot coffee making from a CPO Boatswains Mate. He chain smoked Pall Malls, had been in 15 years and was an E7. He had a serious alcohol problem that was evident by his cherry red nose and "mouth wash" breath.

I always thought Cowboy coffee was made by filling a wool sock with grounds and tossing it in a big ole fry pan of hot water. That is why I have never tried it. Love the stories and pictures here.

That was pretty cool, I have heard that cold water settles the grounds. It would have been neat to see you drop a wool sock full of grounds in that big ole pot though :Smile 1: nice video.
